We traveled to Philadelphia to sit down with Patrice Banks, founder of Girls Auto Clinic, and capture the story behind the brand changing how women experience auto repair.
A two-camera brand story shot on location at Girls Auto Clinic in Philadelphia. Produced in partnership with The Female Quotient, the piece features founder Patrice Banks talking about what she built, why she built it, and what it looks like to run a women-owned auto repair shop that most people didn't think could exist. Full production by Raised Media Co. including lighting, audio, editing, and b-roll.
Two cameras. One shop in Philadelphia. And a founder who left her engineering career because she couldn't find a single female mechanic to work on her car.
Patrice Banks started Girls Auto Clinic in 2013. By 2017, she opened a full-service repair center staffed by women mechanics in Upper Darby, PA. The brand has been featured in TIME, NPR, Good Morning America, and PBS. We got to add to that list.
We partnered with The Female Quotient to produce this brand story on location at the shop. The goal was simple. Let Patrice talk. Capture the space. Show what this place actually feels like when you walk through the door.
The Setup
Two-camera interview setup with full lighting and audio. We wanted the shop to feel real, not staged. Patrice in her element, tools on the wall behind her, cars in the bay. The kind of frame where the background tells half the story before anyone says a word — which is really what separates a brand video from a corporate one.
B-roll through the shop, the signage, the team, the details that make this place different from every other repair center you've driven past. The stuff that doesn't make it into a press release but makes it into a good video.
The Cut
Six minutes. Tight enough to hold attention, long enough to actually say something. Patrice carries the piece. We just made sure the camera was ready when she did. More about how we approach production like this.
